A brief history of the Shipton Family
I was the youngest of three children. My father and mother were both serving as deacon and deconess in the small Baptist church where I grew up. My parents, and brother and sister still remain active in the church. I was taught to embrace all believers in Jesus Chrsit, and to reach out to others with the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
I met Becky when I was twenty, and we were married that year. We felt the call to ministry when I was twenty-two, and left for Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion Indiana, when I was twenty-five. I began to minister in various churches, as we trained for full-time ministry.
Becky grew up in the Cadillac Wesleyan Church. Her parents divorced when she was a young teen, and the church, and the North Michigan Wesleyan Camp helped her grow in her faith. She grew to be a strong believer, and her mom remains active in the church to this day.
We minister together as a team. Our team includes our sixteen year old son, Matt. He has been a joy to our lives, and his faith grows daily. All of us have a desire to see people growing in their faith, and following Christ for life.
